September 24, 2005. Eagles v Swans in the grandy, and also my 12th birthday. My Dad and I went to watch the game at my Aunt and Uncles house and I spent the entire walk there playing the team song out loud from my Samsung MP3 player and spent the entire walk home crying.

Guillfoyes Volcano Walking to the G,
Listening to the Roos.
In my headphones. Botanical gardens Gate E.
Grey skies is good.
For photography they say.
Turns out its lovely too.
For a stroll by a pond to the footy.
I see a sign for Guillfoyes Volcano.
Lots of tourists around today.
A young woman rides by.
Her backpack reads.
'Goal keepers are amazing people'.
I want to see the volcano.
More than anything else in the world.
But Google directs down the left path.
'You can come back here tomorrow'.
I think to myself. I cross the Birrurong.
I think about the volcano again.
I wonder what Gill McLauchlan is doing right now.
Maybe he's walking to the footy too.
Is Gil the kind of boss..
Who arrives nice and early.
And sits to enjoy the slow build of punters rolling in.
Or is he more the cavalier type.
To saunter in at the first bounce?
Gil.
Gil-Foyes Volcano.
